The Chicago Eclipse got a sterling performance from pitcher Ken Blais, but the Montreal Jazz still prevailed, 1-0. Blais threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Gilberto Velazquez, 1-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 4.1 innings. The Jazz sit in third place in the Thurman Munson League Tim Ervin Division with a record of 92-68.

In the top of the first, Will Emery pounced on a fastball from Ken Blais and hit a run-scoring single. It gave Montreal a quick 1-0 lead.

Emery told a Montreal Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
