Late Rally by Storm Secures Win
|
Wichita pitcher Jimmy Ward did his part in helping his team beat the Yuma Varmits, 6-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Ward went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-3. Edwin Armas closed the game out for Wichita, earning his 8th save.
In the top of the ninth, the Storm took a 6-3 lead when Valke Armstrong hit a 2-run single.
Ward told a Wichita Herald reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Wichita has an impressive 14-7 record.
