Salazar Handcuffs Jazz, Millers Seize 2-0 Advantage in R1
|
When the stakes were high, Emilio Salazar raised his game to match.
The right-handed Salazar turned in a stellar performance in Game 2 of the Round 1 today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Milwaukee Millers to victory. He allowed 3 hits and struck out 10. The win gave Milwaukee a 2-0 lead over the Montreal Jazz in the best-of-7 series.
Salazar pitched a complete game for Milwaukee. The right-hander, who calls Havana, Cuba, his home, racked up 10 Ks, while allowing just 3 hits. Jazz hitters could not touch his changeup -- nor any other pitch, for that matter.
"We haven't stopped playing," Montreal manager Johnny Vallance said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
The next game is set to be played for Monday, October 16th , 2056 at Stade Claude Raymond in Montreal.
