Both teams had their chances, but the Minneapolis Freeze eventually prevailed at The Ice Box.

Omar Barroso was instrumental in his team's 7-6 triumph over the Billings Mustangs. The center fielder went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Minneapolis Freeze. Minneapolis reliever Eddy Aguilar picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. John Neal shouldered the loss.

Had Mike Mathers not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Mathers hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Freeze.

"Getting the win feels nice," said Mathers. "More importantly, I had a good game."

The Mustangs fall to 8-14 and continue their uneven start to the 2044 season.
