The Hitmen had to overcome a fine performance from Indian Wells pitcher Toa Fotu Taurus to grab a 3-2 win at Stars Field. Taurus allowed 2 earned runs over 7 innings. Reliever Gabe Saiz picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Je-won Lim took the loss. Jonathan Parker was called on to finish, recording his 8th save.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when left fielder James Rye, who is tied for 9th in the RAAA in RBI with 28, drew a walk. The Hitmen went on to win.
After the game, Calgary manager Ramón Rivera applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The Hitmen go to 18-21, putting them last in the RCL AAA Bobby Cox Division.
