Escobar, Luchadores Ring Up 5-4 Win
|
Mount Royal Grounds was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Mexico City Luchadores and Montreal Mounties.
Mexico City beat Montreal at Mount Royal Grounds, eking out a 5-4 win. The triumph was primarily due to center fielder Eddie Escobar. He went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Alex Boulware was the winner. Over 8 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 11 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Dan Wallace closed the door for Mexico City, picking up his 9th save of the year.
Escobar had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 3-1 fastball from Randy Mowers, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Luchadores a 5-3 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Escobar.
Escobar told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."
Mexico City, at 14-19, occupies 5th place in the Roberto Clemente League International Division.
