Ridge Runners Sunk by Toreros
|
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros weathered a fine game by Eagle Rock second baseman Kyle Brye to upend the Ridge Runners, 5-4, at Field de Los Layendas. Brye went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Jason Martin, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 2-5. The win puts the Toreros at 8-28, while the Ridge Runners drop to 15-21.
Danny Douglass, who finished 2nd in the RCL in doubles with 53 in 2060, took Eagle Rock hurler Danny Coyle deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Toreros on top, 4-3. In all, Douglass had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
Cabo San Lucas manager praised his team's "businesslike approach."
