|
The Vancouver Pioneers overcame a pretty good performance by Hawaii first baseman Tommy George, beating the Honu, 5-4, at "The Fort" at B.C. Place. George was 5 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Kenny Poor, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. With the win, Vancouver pushed its record to 23-22.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Vancouver third baseman Kevin Julien, facing Jason Rhodes, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Pioneers the 5-4 win.
"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Julien.
