Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Blazers
|
Bloomington Blazers starter Humberto Diaz pitched a strong game against the Quebec Armada at Lucky 7 Ballpark, leading the Blazers to victory, 5-3. Bloomington pitcher Jimmy Sherry got the win, upping his record to 2-2. Forest Woolfrey got the loss. Jason Phillips earned the save for Bloomington, his 10th of the year.
Tony Romero provided a timely hit. The Bloomington third baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blazers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Diaz, "and then get after it again."
Bloomington is 24-17 and Quebec, with the loss, 20-21.
