El Paso Mavericks starter Edwin Martinez was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Buffalo Bison, 1-0. Martinez picked up the win for El Paso, going 5 innings. He gave up no runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 5-3. Joseph Colombi closed the game out for El Paso, earning his 1st save.
The Bison had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Mavericks going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 2055 Rookie of the Year Award winner Marty Hannibal came to the plate. Hannibal hit a solo home run on a 2-1 changeup from Buffalo hurler Ben Molter. It was Hannibal's 5th home run of the year.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Hannibal, "and go after the next one."
