The Walnut Creek Warriors and starting pitcher Nelson Ramirez stifled the Quebec offense en route to a comfortable 9-2 win at Castlerock Field. In 5.1 innings, Ramirez surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Mike Traver earned the save for Walnut Creek, his 1st of the year.

Matt Schaefer had a big 2-run double for the Warriors in the bottom of the first inning. With Walnut Creek leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a changeup from Ed Roby, who is tied for 10th in the RCL with a 4.12 ERA, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Warriors ahead, 4-0.

"Nelson was in control from the top," said Walnut Creek manager Armando Medina.
