The South Carolina Gamecocks and Ohio State Buckeyes were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Scandals Ballpark.

The Ohio State Buckeyes downed the South Carolina Gamecocks, 12-5, at Scandals Ballpark. Nate Kubicek led the way, going 3-for-4 for Ohio State. Mike Lyon got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Gamecocks to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 2.

In the top of the first, Zion Smith ambushed a full count fastball from Troy Dougherty and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Ohio State a quick 2-0 lead.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Kubicek told a Ohio State Gazette reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."

With the win, Ohio State goes to 4-3.
