Owls Prevail, 7-5, Over Texas A&M
|
The Texas A&M Aggies got a superb performance from left fielder Andy Wheeling. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Rice. The Owls won the game, 7-5. In spite of the loss, Wheeling was named the player of the game. He was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Rice reliever Steve Frank picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Casey Bracewell was saddled with the loss. Rice is now 5-8, Texas A&M 7-6.
The tide might have turned with two out in the top of the fifth, had not Steve Frank made a big pitch. With the bases loaded and the Aggies trailing 3-0, he retired Chris Tittle, who flied out.
