Earthquakes Clip Armada, 4-3
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes overcame a pretty good performance by Quebec first baseman Mike Rudolph, beating the Armada, 4-3, in 10 innings. Rudolph was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Ethan Howell snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-2 on the season. Danny Phillips suffered the loss. San Francisco, at 33-36, occupies third place in the Thurman Munson League West Division.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Mike Young? The 24-year old first baseman Young stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put San Francisco up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Exciting game to play in," said Young. "Getting the win makes it even better."
