Streaking Cougars Win Another One
Houston starter Chance Johnson pitched effectively against the California Golden Bears at Prisoners Ballpark. The left-hander led his team to a 8-4 win. Johnson, now 3-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. The second-place Cougars have won 6 straight.

Houston used the clutch hitting of Gabe Berzins to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cougars ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"This was a good win for us," said Berzins. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
