The Florida Gators topped the Ohio State Buckeyes, 5-3, with designated hitter Gary Ritscher playing a big role. Ritscher went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk for the Gators in the win. At 26-17, the Gators find themselves in third place in the Ron Fraser Division.

Florida used the timely hitting of Mike Morgan to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Gators ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

Ritscher told a Florida Gazette reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
