Crowds lined up early in front of The Nest, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2066 ADULT BASEBALL LEAGUE season. On the mound was Malik Combs for the visiting El Paso Mavericks and Harley Lowrie for the hometown Eureka Hornets. In a spirited contest, the Mavericks pulled out the win, defeating the Hornets by the score of 4-3. Especially impressive was Malik Combs.
Carlos Ayala had a direct impact on the outcome. Ayala contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put El Paso up, 4-3.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Combs.
