Santa Clara took on Canby in front of a lively crowd.

The Canby Lancers got a superb performance from right fielder Mike Hanson, but the Santa Clara Vampires still won the game, 9-7. Hanson went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Steve Caruso, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 3-1. John Cohen got credit for the save for Santa Clara. It was his 1st of the year.

Santa Clara used a well-timed hit by Keith Malloy to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Vampires ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said Canby manager Hou-kang Li.

The loss makes Canby 25-22.
