Carr Stars for Vampires in 10-2 Win
The Santa Clara Vampires thumped the Topeka West Chargers, 10-2, at River Otters Ballpark. Brian Carr was a big reason his team got the win. Carr went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. Santa Clara pitcher Steve Caruso earned the win, hiking his record to 4-1. Kory Whitney suffered the loss. With the win, the Vampires improved to 32-25.

With Santa Clara leading 7-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Carr came up to bat against Topeka West pitcher Ryan Woller. Carr hit a fastball to center for a 3-run home run. His 18th home run of the season put the Vampires on top, 10-2.

"Being in first place now is good," said Carr. "Being in first at the end of the season is better. That's our goal."
