The Carl Albert Titans besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Riverside second baseman Luis Rivas by beating the Poly, 13-12, at Zebras Ballpark. Rivas went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Jim Powderly. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. The Titans move to 34-27 with the win, while the Poly drop to 33-28.

The decisive blow was delivered by Brian Foley in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 14-year old right-handed pitcher Dennis Clark to win the game for Carl Albert. The home crowd went nuts.
