Paradise Island beat Normal at The Nutcracker Suite, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Tom de Jong. He was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Tony Cruz closed the door for Paradise Island, picking up his 1st save of the year. The losing streak has reached 8 games for the Nutcrackers. Manager Juan Colo was visibly upset after the game, hurling a string of profanities en route to the clubhouse.

With Paradise Island trailing 3-2 in the top of the fifth, de Jong hit a fastball from Manny Chavez for a grand slam home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Pirates ahead, 6-3.

"No one likes losing," said Normal manager Juan Colo. "But we'll turn this thing around."
