|
Not everyone stuck through the 63-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
The Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas weathered an outstanding game by Caribbean second baseman Victor Palomino to topple the Commies, 6-4. Palomino belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Tony Zacarias earned the save for Boca Raton, his 1st.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Juan Marquez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Caribbean pitcher Jose Reina, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boca Raton on top, 5-4.
"Nice to get this one," said Marquez. "Wins have been hard to come by."
The win takes Boca Raton to 1-8.
