The Cairo Pharaohs and Jacksonville Pilots played an entertaining game for The Pyramid patrons.
The Cairo Pharaohs scored a tight, 6-5 win versus the Jacksonville Pilots at The Pyramid. Cairo pitcher Ben Kent held his own in the contest. The winner was Kent. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Chris McEvoy. Morgan Henn picked up the save, his 27th.
Jason Bennett, who is rated as the 66th best prospect by BNN, took Jacksonville hurler Chris McEvoy deep in the bottom of the first. His 3-run home run put the Pharaohs on top, 3-0. In all, Bennett had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Bennett, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The last-place Pharaohs improved to 55-85.
