The Montreal Cardinals buried the Normal Nutcrackers, 16-2, under a barrage of hits. Chris Neal led the onslaught, going 4-for-5 for Montreal. Masahiro Kochi was the winner. Over 9 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 8 hits, with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Early on, the Cardinals, at 12-1, have excelled.

The Cardinals got a big boost from left fielder Chris Moore who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Nutcrackers hurler Sergio Perez. It was his 8th walk of the season and put Montreal on top, 1-0.
