Starting pitcher Owen Stegemann pitched well enough to help the Houghton Gremlins beat the Pennsylvania Butterflies, 4-3. Stegemann yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 10-9. Chris Wethington earned the save for Houghton, his 25th of the year.

John Wolochow aided the Houghton cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the left fielder was 2-3 with a double.

"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Wolochow told the Houghton Herald.

The third-place Gremlins improved to 73-72.
