Normal Pockets 7-6 Win Over Savannah
|
The Normal Nutcrackers withstood a fine game by Savannah left fielder Jerry Sandoval at The Nutcracker Suite, to upend the Peaches, 7-6. Sandoval was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. The winning pitcher was Andres Silguero. He tossed 97 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. Federico Moreno earned save number 1 this season.
Normal second baseman Mike Garza contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a curveball to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Nutcrackers ahead, 2-0.
