The 8-5 Frobisher Bay win over Syracuse was due in large part to Angel Zamora. The Caribou second baseman hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner in relief was Mike Canchola. He is now 1-0. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 3.2 innings. Rúbem Aldeinha recorded the save, his 6th.

Had Fernando Cruz not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Cruz hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Caribou.

"It's great to be on a roll," said Cruz.

With the loss, Syracuse is 7-12.
