Frobisher Bay got a valiant performance from pitcher Jonas Roth, but it wasn't enough to beat the Thunder Bay Lighting. Thunder Bay won the game, 8-4. Roth threw 8.0 innings allowing 1 run for the losing team. Tsuramatsu Nishimura earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Despite the loss, Frobisher Bay is still 16-4.

Thunder Bay needed the clutch hitting of Juan Encarnacion to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lighting on top, 8-4. For the game, Encarnacion had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Encarnacion. "You've got to get results."
