Vargas Steals Spotlight, But Last Laugh Belongs to Paradise Island
The Paradise Island Pirates withstood a fine game by Oconto Falls first baseman Dave Vargas at Predator Park, to upend the Timbers, 8-7. Vargas belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The save was credited to Tony Cruz, his 3rd. Early on, the Pirates, at 15-6, have played an impressive brand of baseball.

Orlando Aguilar had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Pirates. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Paradise Island trailing 7-6, he hit a 2-run single.

"We've got a great group of guys," Aguilar said, "and we're having fun right now."
