Caribou Get Gritty, 3-2 Win
|
The Frobisher Bay Caribou did just enough to secure a victory over the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas, 3-2, in 10 innings at Scripps Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Diego Nunez. Frobisher Bay reliever Tom Dukes was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Matt Spisak. The Caribou have hit the ground running, raising their record to 18-9. While it's still too soon to talk about Frobisher Bay hoisting their 2nd League Championship Series trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
Frobisher Bay used a timely hit from Eddie Gurule to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Caribou ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Do what you're good at," said Frobisher Bay manager Pete Valley. "That's all I ask of the team."
