The Eagle Rock Ridge Runners did just enough to sneak past the Maple Marauders, 5-4, at Ozark Mountain Stadium. Eagle Rock pitcher Willie Borrero, in particular, had a standout performance. Brian Clendenny claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 4-11. The Ridge Runners, at 63-93, have now won 5 straight.

Had C.J. Parrish not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Parrish hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Ridge Runners.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Borrero. "Successful pitchers do it."
