The Hawaii Honu knocked off the Bighorn Bison, 5-3, in Roberto Clemente League action at Ram Brewery Ballpark. Hawaii pitcher and Culiacan, Mexico, native Fernando Vazquez had an outstanding performance. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher Colin Keller in relief. His record improves to 7-8. Zach Phillips took the loss. Hawaii currently is in third place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division at 83-74.
Hawaii used a timely hit from Les Hutchinson to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Honu ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
Hutchinson said his team "played with a purpose."
