Varmits Flush Nutcrackers, 12-4
The Yuma Varmits cruised to a win over the Normal Nutcrackers, 12-4, at The Nutcracker Suite. Imbart Schuring led the way, going 1-for-4 for Yuma. Mario Hernandez went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. The left-hander struck out 9 and walked 3. With the win, he ups his record to 1-3 this season. Yuma, at 12-24, occupies last place in the TML R Otto Velez Division.

Yuma used the timely hitting of Antonio Perales to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Varmits on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Glad to go home with a win," said Perales.
