Mavericks Snatch Late-Game, 6-5 Win
The El Paso Mavericks had to overcome a big game from Houghton center fielder Carlos Casillas to leave The Corral with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5. Casillas went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was credited to 24-year old left-handed pitcher Jon Aguilera in relief. His record improves to 5-4. Luis Moreno took the loss. Houghton has now lost 6 straight.

Manny Gallegos was the walk-off hero for El Paso. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mavericks right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Losing feels worse," said Houghton manager Dane Freeman, "than winning feels good."
