Brooklyn Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Hartman
|
The Thunder Bay Lighting had to overcome a big game from Brooklyn left fielder Marvin Hartman to leave Lightning Grove with a victory. And they did, winning, 10-5. Hartman slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Zigza Funsani earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The win puts Thunder Bay at 22-18 this season.
In the bottom of the fifth, Thunder Bay shortstop Antonio Vasquez had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out, Vasquez stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-1, Thunder Bay. For the game, he went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Every manager loves to see an offensive outburst from his team," said Thunder Bay skipper Masamune Fujimoto.
