Extra-Inning Win by Islanders Over Varmits
The Coronado Islanders got a hard-earned win over the Yuma Varmits, 6-3, in 11 innings. Mario Contreras provided some offensive muscle for Coronado. He was 2-5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Coronado pitcher Jose Ahumada earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Roberto Vasquez suffered the loss. Coronado is now 24-24, while Yuma is 19-27.

Coronado needed the clutch hitting of Jon Bailey to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Islanders on top, 6-3. For the game, Bailey had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
