Down to Defeat Goes Caribbean, 4-2
|
Rockville turned a good performance from starting pitcher Eddie Mendez into a 4-2 triumph over the Caribbean Commies at Brewbaker Memorial Stadium. The winner in relief was Kazumi Sakata. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The victory makes Rockville 4-5.
Rockville took a 3-2 lead on Manny Colon's 2nd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Colon hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Caribbean pitcher Jesus Ruiz visibly frustrated.
After the game, Rockville manager Sylvester Richardson applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
