Peaches Win by Slim Margin, 3-2
|
The Coronado Islanders got a sterling performance from pitcher Miguel Perez, but the Savannah Peaches still prevailed, 3-2. Perez came in in relief and pitched to 29 batters. Mike Lares came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Willie Reyes saved it for Savannah.
Savannah used a timely hit from Mike Najera to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Peaches ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager Ed Lenhardt.
The current losing streak for Coronado has reached 4 games.
