Javier Powers Lighting Offense
The Thunder Bay Lighting topped the Paradise Island Pirates, 8-6, with youngster Alfredo Javier playing a key role. Javier went 2 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Lighting in the win. Brooks Messersmith snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 2.2 innings. He's now 3-0 on the season. Their 36-26 record puts the Lighting third in the RCL R John Mayberry Division.

Thunder Bay used a clutch at-bat from Edwin Santana to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Lighting ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We got the victory," said Santana. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
