The Dallas Texans withstood a fine game by El Paso designated hitter Matt Griffin at The Corral, to upend the Mavericks, 11-8. Griffin went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Getting the save was Chris Nugent, his 19th. With the win, Dallas has a record of 40-52. El Paso falls to 49-43.

Dallas center fielder Chris Sawyer contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the first. With two down, he hit a cutter to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 83rd hit of the season and put the Texans ahead, 3-0.

"We got the victory," said Sawyer. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
