Behind a fine performance from Alberto Melchor, the Thunder Bay Lighting knocked off the Prince George Cougars, 7-4. Melchor slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for the Lighting. Jorge Torres came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. His record now stands at 4-0. Bobby Kolar earned his 10th save, after closing out the game.

With Thunder Bay leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Melchor came up to bat against Prince George pitcher Edgar Monterroso. Melchor hit a fastball to left-center for a 2-run home run. His 14th home run of the season put the Lighting on top, 5-2.

"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Melchor.

The Lighting win now puts them at 31-8.
