Lighting Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Rangers, 4-2
|
The Thunder Bay Lighting got a stellar effort from pitcher Wynn Backstrom, helping Thunder Bay score a win over the visiting Rockville Rangers, 4-2. Leonardo Cortez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. He upped his record to 3-1. Bobby Kolar collected save number 9.
Thunder Bay took a 4-2 lead on Bobby Krebsbach's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Krebsbach hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Rockville pitcher Luis Bautista visibly frustrated.
Rockville manager Sylvester Richardson, after the game, said, "Right now, we're just not getting that big hit."
The 18-22 Rangers have lost 11 consecutive games.
