Sabercats Drop 7-4 Decision to Caribou
|
The Frobisher Bay Caribou topped the Sedona Sabercats, 7-4, the lion's share of the credit going to third baseman Alex Mandujano. On the day, Mandujano went 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Caribou. Alex Torres got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 12 and walking 5. Matt Cramer earned the save for Frobisher Bay.
The Caribou got a big at-bat from right fielder Elroy Hunt. For the game, Hunt went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Frobisher Bay a 3-0 lead.
"I still think this team can play even better," Hunt told the Frobisher Bay Gazette.
The Caribou, at 52-15, sit in first place in the RCL R John Mayberry Division.
