Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at The Lava Flow.

Despite a fine performance by first baseman Arturo Paz, the Brooklyn Cyclones lost to the Paradise Island Pirates, 7-5. Paz went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Antonio Espinoza picked up his 1st save of the season.

Paradise Island used a timely hit from Sean Russo to get the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 12th inning to put the Pirates ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.

In postgame comments, Russo said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."

The Pirates saw their win-loss record go to 47-20. At the same time, the Cyclones fell to 36-31.
