Portocarrero Shines in 12-8 Wichita Win
The Wichita Storm beat the Rockville Rangers, 12-8, at Brewbaker Memorial Stadium. Wichita shortstop Mario Portocarrero had an outstanding performance. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. The winner was Edgar Rosales, who threw 114 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. The Storm raised their record to 7-61.

With Wichita leading 5-2 in the top of the fifth, Portocarrero hit a changeup from Pedro Velez for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Storm ahead, 9-2.
