Miners Earn 2-1 Win Versus Rangers
|
The Sylva Miners earned a close win over the Rockville Rangers, thanks in part to Jim Jones. The Sylva right-hander, who is tied for 5th in the RR in quality starts with 6, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. Sylva reliever Miguel Alejos got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Luis Bautista was tagged with the loss. Sylva is now 38-8, Rockville 21-25.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Sylva designated hitter Lawrence Wood, facing Mike Babey, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Miners the 2-1 win.
Jones said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
