Normal played host to Caribbean at The Nutcracker Suite.

The Normal Nutcrackers beat the Caribbean Commies, 7-5, with major props going to left fielder Hector Gonzales. On the day, Gonzales was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Nutcrackers. Normal starter Robert Brown was credited with the win after throwing 100 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. Kevin Johnson sewed up the save, his 3rd.

Normal right fielder Danny Sanchez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 31st hit of the season and put the Nutcrackers ahead, 3-0.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Gonzales told the Normal Bulletin. "But we take nothing for granted."

Normal is 28-42 and Caribbean, with the loss, 22-48.
