Caribbean turned a good performance from starting pitcher Francisco Castillo into a 3-2 triumph over the Rockville Rangers in 11 innings at Castro Field. The Commies improved their record to 17-30 by beating Rockville.

The decisive blow was delivered by Salvador Tobon in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a solo home run off 20-year old left-handed pitcher Jose Delgado to win the game for Caribbean. The home crowd went nuts.

"To become 'battle-tested,'" said Tobon, "you need to compete in this kind of contest."
