The Thunder Bay Lighting beat the Wichita Storm, 9-4, at Lightning Grove. Juan Encarnacion, in particular, was impressive. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Xavier Tello snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Luis Casanova suffered the loss. The win makes Thunder Bay 41-36.

With Thunder Bay leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Encarnacion came up to bat against Wichita pitcher Danny Gomez. Encarnacion hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Lighting on top, 9-0.

"It was a pretty good night," said Encarnacion.
