Juan Moreno, who is tied for 3rd in the TR in complete games with 2, imposed his will on the Mooses from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 Montreal triumph. The winning pitcher was Moreno, now 11-6. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 10 and fanning 7. Montreal, at 55-25, holds down second place in the TML R Otto Velez Division.

Montreal used the timely hitting of Francisco Beltran to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cardinals on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Montreal manager Emmanuel Even said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
